Origin

As human beings, our roots lie in nature, not only because our bodies consist of the same elements as dirt, air, and grass, but also because reconnecting with nature means returning to our native soil. Two centuries ago, humans had a profound connection with the sacred tree, THEOBROMA CACAO, which has 22 species grouped into six sections, but only two are of interest to us: Theobroma Cacao and Theobroma Bicolor. The name Theobroma Cacao was proposed by Linneu in 1753, inspired by the three alkaloids it contains, theobromine being the most important, followed by caffeine. As a mood enhancer, stimulant, vasodilator, and diuretic, THEOBROMA CACAO has incredible health benefits. Interestingly, the Spanish invaders learned about cacao and the word “cacao” from the Maya of the Yucatan Peninsula rather than the Aztecs. The word “cacao” originated from Mixe-Zoquean and was first used at least 1000 BC during the height of Olmec civilization at the San Lorenzo site.
